We offer different guided routes of various lengths and levels of difficulty (beginner and mid). While riding your bike, you can admire the peculiar landscape of this region.

We have some bicycles to rent ($5.00US p/hour) in case you prefer to leave yours at home.

We can visit: Piedras Encimadas valley and Las Minas (the Green Route).

Communities in the surrounding areas: Ayotla, Matlahuacala (the Deer Route).

The communal lands of Atexca y Las Glorias (the Pine Route).

The Green Route: 2:30 h; difficulty level: medium-low. Guide: $ 10.00 US p/p (min. 3 people)

Starting in El Refugio, we descend along the community paths and through the woods east of Atexca, to the little-known columns of Las Glorias. From here we continue up north and into Piedras Encimadas before reaching the valley. Whimsical landscapes several million years old surround us, giving a surreal sense to the act of pedalling. Once in the valley we can choose between two possibilities: to cycle back, which takes about one hour, or else to go back by truck with the bicycles loaded on it (an extra x$ p/p)

 

New Routes for the Future:

I'm currently exploring several new mountain bike routes. This area offers a great deal of possibilities, one of which would be to open a direct route to the sea. Of course, this would require some planning and several days of journey (I reckon about three). I also intend to adapt a stretch of one of these routes to go out on night rides. As new trails are developed, this page will be updated with the new routes.
